Meet Brittany
Founder, Guiding Light Billing Solutions
For nearly a decade, Brittany has worked in the recovery and behavioral health field in a variety of managerial, administrative, and leadership roles throughout Southern Maine. As a woman in long-term recovery herself, her work has always been deeply personal and rooted in a genuine passion for helping individuals access the care and support they deserve.
Brittany created Guiding Light Billing Solutions after years of seeing how documentation, authorizations, billing, and compliance directly impact a provider’s ability to continue serving clients effectively. She built the company to help organizations strengthen their systems, reduce administrative burden, maintain compliance, and protect access to quality care for the individuals and families who rely on these services.
The name “Guiding Light” was inspired by Brittany’s two children, who remain the heart behind both the creation and continued growth of the company. They are the driving force behind her desire to build something meaningful, sustainable, and rooted in purpose.
Today, Brittany takes a hands-on and relationship-focused approach to supporting providers, combining operational expertise with an understanding of the real-world challenges treatment organizations face every day. Her goal is to help bring clarity, structure, and dependable support so providers can stay focused on caring for people.
Brittany lives in Southern Maine with her husband and their two children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, visiting their family camp, running, CrossFit, reading, and spending time outdoors along the Maine coast.
Why Guiding Light
Guiding Light Billing Solutions started where many of these stories start — with a frustration that turned into a calling. After years inside Maine's behavioral health and substance use treatment landscape, Brittany saw the same problem playing out across organizations of every size: providers doing exceptional clinical work, weighed down by billing and compliance demands the system was never built to make easy.
Authorizations slipped. Documentation gaps caused denials. Capable teams burned hours fighting paperwork instead of supporting clients. The expertise needed to navigate MaineCare requirements — especially for PNMI Section 97 programs and outpatient SUD providers — was rare, and the providers who needed it most often had the least time to build it in-house.
Guiding Light was built to close that gap. Not as another billing service, but as a steady, specialized partner—someone who knows the requirements, anticipates the pitfalls, and quietly takes the weight of compliance and revenue management off the shoulders of the clinical teams who shouldn't have to carry it.
Specialized Expertise
Guiding Light's focus is narrow on purpose. Behavioral health and substance use treatment billing in Maine isn't a generalist's work — it requires deep familiarity with MaineCare's specific requirements, the nuances of PNMI Section 97 standards, and the realities of how authorizations, documentation, and reimbursement actually move through Atrezzo and the broader compliance system.
Areas of focus include:
MaineCare billing and reimbursement workflows
Prior authorizations and ongoing review management through Atrezzo
PNMI Section 97 compliance (ASAM 3.1 and 3.5)
Outpatient SUD and behavioral health billing
Documentation alignment and audit readiness
Claims accuracy, denial reduction, and revenue protection
How We Work
Guiding Light is built on the principle that compliance and billing should feel like infrastructure—quiet, consistent, and dependable—not another fire your team has to put out. The work is meant to disappear into the background, leaving your clinical staff free to do what they do best.
Clear Communication
Plain answers, timely updates, and a partner who explains the "why"—not just the "what." You'll always know where things stand.
Consistent Reliability
Authorizations submitted on time. Claims tracked through to payment. Documentation reviewed before issues become denials. Quiet, dependable execution.
Tailored Support
Full-service or focused. Long-term or short-term. The work flexes to match what your organization actually needs—not a fixed package you have to fit into.
Let's Talk About What Your Team Needs
Whether you're looking for full-service billing support or a steady partner for the compliance work behind the scenes, the conversation starts the same way — with a clear understanding of where your organization is and where you want it to go.
